Apple: “There’s an iPad for that!”

image

Apple finally announced their tablet yesterday after months of speculation.  A lot of people are underwhelmed.

Let us see first of all what it is:

  • It is a touch-sensitive 9.7” tablet running at 1024x768 resolution.
  • It is a book and media reader.
  • It mostly runs the iPhone / iPod Touch apps.
  • It includes Wi-Fi.  A more expensive version will allow you to hook up with the AT&T network like the iPhone.

What it does not have:

  • Still no support for Flash.
  • No multitasking.
  • No USB.
  • No SD card slot.
  • In fact, no camera at all.
  • Does not run Mac OS X.
  • A user-changeable battery.
  • A CD drive.

Still using Internet Explorer (IE)?

Well, first run all the Windows updates.  Make sure you are using Internet Explorer 8.

Note: Not all the suggestions work under Windows XP.  XP / IE makes a pretty vulnerable combo!
